What would you do if you didn’t have to pay rent? What would the world feel like without financial restrictions dictating our every move? I envisioned a world where the leading emotions are freedom, calmness, and passion. There would be pattern without monotony, cohesion with variety. Using the ocean as a vehicle to convey the emotions filling this imagined world with no financial restrictions, I made a series of twelve knits utilizing a range of techniques on both the domestic flatbed and Dubied knitting machine as well as indigo dyeing techniques that each embody that world. Tides will rise and fall like clockwork, and yet floating in water is still a gently surprising experience, no wave quite like the other: predictable and yet unpredictable.
